The Common Procedures Report released by the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4) provides information about the performance and utilization of Pennsylvania hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) for three common procedures: spinal fusion, total hip replacement, and total knee replacement. Reported are hospital ratings for complications and extended postoperative length of stay, along with average hospital charges and Medicare payments for inpatient hospitalizations. Also included is the total number of cases for hospitals and ASCs. Statewide trends and statistics are also examined.
