On-Demand Webinars to Help Prep for Sentinel Event Transition
The alignment of Joint Commission’s Sentinel Event List and NQF’s updated Serious Reportable Events (SRE) List will become effective January 1, 2027. To support healthcare organizations in preparing for this transition, Joint Commission and NQF are offering a series of on-demand webinars focusing on the updated Sentinel Event definition, updated Sentinel Events and Categories, and how to use the SRE clinical application guidance. Note that reporting remains voluntary. Interested parties should start with the Alignment Overview webinar. Each subsequent webinar will use the components covered in the overview to dive deeper into a specific category of Sentinel Events and the corresponding events (e.g., procedural events, product and device). Webinars will be published on a rolling basis throughout the remainder of the year. They are available on demand only with no live Q&A. Organizations are encouraged to submit event specific questions in advance to help inform webinar content. Joint Commission accredited organizations will have access to exclusive live office-hour sessions where they can ask questions.
