Beyond Benefits: Transforming Mental Health Support in the Workplace
OPENING KEYNOTE PRESENTATION
Mental health continues to be one of the most pressing and complex challenges facing employers today—impacting workforce wellbeing, productivity, and overall healthcare costs. Yet many organizations still struggle with how to effectively connect employees to the right care at the right time. This keynote will provide a practical overview of the current mental health landscape, including the most common access barriers, gaps in care, and evolving expectations from employees. It will also explore the critical role employers can play in improving access and outcomes—beyond traditional benefit offerings.
Drawing on real-world experience and emerging approaches, the session will highlight how more informed, streamlined referral pathways can help employees find care that better fits their needs, while supporting employers in delivering more effective mental health strategies. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the challenges—and actionable ideas to help improve mental health access within their organizations.
How to Sleep at Night: Understanding and Managing High-Cost Claims
High-cost claims can feel overwhelming, and it’s easy to think there’s little you can do to influence them—but you can! Join Dr. Christine Hale, Chief Medical Officer at Gallagher, for a practical crash course on understanding and managing high-cost claims. Employers will learn what to look for across conditions like cardiometabolic disease, cancer, neonatal events, and sepsis, and gain actionable insights to better support plan members and hold carriers and health care partners accountable.
Better Outcomes, Lower Costs, Improved Member Experience: Employer Case Studies in Data-Driven Healthplans
Employer-sponsored healthcare costs continue to rise at unsustainable rates, while many organizations still lack direct ownership and actionable access to the data generated by their healthplans. At the same time, the rapid growth of specialized healthplan “point solutions” and advanced analytics has created both new opportunities and new operational complexity for employers seeking better outcomes by limiting their ability to integrate insights, activate interventions, and sustain long-term strategies. This session will examine how leading employers are consolidating and activating healthplan data across vendors to identify risk earlier, coordinate interventions, activate personalized solutions, and enhance member engagement. Through real-world case studies, attendees will see how highly integrated data strategies translate into measurable clinical and financial results.
By attending this session, participants will be able to:
- Recognize the structural drivers of escalating employer-sponsored healthcare costs and why traditional carrier-centered models alone often fail to control them.
- Describe the importance of employer data ownership, including the value of maintaining a HIPAA-secure, longitudinal health plan data warehouse independent of individual vendors or carriers.
- Evaluate the growing ecosystem of third-party AI-leveraging analytics, point solutions, and programs and the operational challenges of coordinating analytics, care management, and engagement tools.
- Identify practical approaches for activating healthcare data to engage at-risk or emerging-risk members and improve clinical and financial outcomes.
- Apply lessons from employer case studies demonstrating how bi-directionally integrated data strategies can deliver better clinical outcomes, lower costs, and improved member satisfaction.

State of the Healthcare Industry
Join us as we break down the forces reshaping health care in 2026, what’s driving them, and how leaders can respond with clarity. The industry is entering a pivotal period marked not by a single disruptor, but by a broad diffusion of control as social and political support erodes. Assumptions about access, cost management, and clinical decision‑making are being challenged by funding cuts, rising costs, and shifting consumer trust. Leaders must understand the new power dynamics and regional ripple effects to navigate a future where control is increasingly distributed across the ecosystem
Summary and Major Themes:
As we head into 2026, the healthcare industry is facing a pivotal shift—not from any single disruptor, but from a broad diffusion of control across the ecosystem, as social and political support crumbles. Long-standing assumptions about access, cost management, and clinical decision making are unraveling under pressure from funding cuts, rising costs, and changing consumer trust and expectations. Healthcare leaders must understand the players exerting new power and the spillover effects within their regional ecosystems, to navigate a future where control is no longer centralized, but shared (for better or worse).
Key Learning Objectives:
- Safety net access vulnerabilities, including publicly-funded health plans, rural providers, pharmacies, and academic medical centers
- Purchaser spend management strategies, including specialized management for GLP-1s, behavioral health, and shoppable procedures
- Care decision making influencers, including direct-to-consumer sources, physician practice owners, artificial intelligence, and tech vendors

David Kraus, PhD
Dr. Kraus is the preeminent scholar in identifying the unique strengths and skills of behavioral health providers. His research has quintupled (when compared to previous best practices) the number of patients that return to full health and productivity without relapse. The process called TOP Match assesses each patient’s unique needs with a comprehensive (yet short) patient-reported assessment. TOP Match then personalizes a short list of behavioral health providers that are both available and proven to help similar patients return to full health.
Dr. Kraus has been awarded two US Patents and his publications have appeared in peer-reviewed medical journals including the Journal of the American Medical Association. Funding for his work has come from leading private and public institutions including the National Institutes of Health, The Duke Endowment, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and the Patient Centered Outcome Research Institute.
